Help Us KeepThe Lefse House Alive
A Piece of Scandinavian Heritage in Camrose
There are places that exist to make money. And there are places that exist to keep traditions that would otherwise disappear.
The Lefse House is one of those places.
For over 30 years, this little Scandinavian bakery in Camrose has been quietly keeping traditions alive - food made the traditional way, and a feeling that reminds people of home... even if that home was never written down, only remembered.
-
Lefse made by hand.
-
Bread that tastes like someone's grandmother used to make.
-
Meals that feel familiar, even if you can't quite explain why.
This isn't just food..... It's memory....... It's heritage....... It's belonging.
Where We Are Now
Today, the Lefse House is at a turning point. Like many small, independent businesses, we've been hit hard by rising costs, changing habits, and an economy that makes it difficult for places like this to survive.
We are new owners doing everything we can to carry this forward - but the reality is:

We are struggling to keep the doors open.

There's no big company behind us. No financial cushion. Just a belief that this place matters - and a hope that the community feels that too. As owners we have completely exhausted all our lines of financing and credit and there is no other personal resources available.
Why This Matters
If The Lefse House closes, it’s not just a bakery that disappears.
It’s:
-
One of the few places dedicated to Scandinavian baking traditions in this region
-
A space where stories, culture, and food come together
-
A small but meaningful piece of history that can’t be easily replaced
Once something like this is gone… it’s gone.
What We're Trying To Do
We’re not looking to stand still — we’re trying to rebuild.
Your support will help us:
-
Keep the bakery operating during this critical period
-
Chip away at our "start up" loans as well as our original investment loan.
-
Improve our space - it is time for some upgrades, there are appliances that need to be repaired or replaced and renovations...like air conditioning!!
-
Upgrade our website and online presence so people can actually find us
-
Invest in marketing so we’re not invisible to our own community
-
Continue producing the traditional foods people have come to love
This isn’t about expansion.
It’s about survival — and creating a path forward.
How Can You Help?

If you believe small, local places like this still matter…
If you want to help keep tradition alive in a world that moves too fast…
We’re asking for your help.
Every contribution — no matter the size — helps us keep going.
And if you can’t give, sharing this means just as much.
It's a place to start.
